Norwegian Opera Browser

About Opera

Opera was launched as a research project of the Norwegian telecommunications company Telenor in 1994 and developed into an independent development company, Opera Software ASA, in 1995.

Opera Software ASA developed the Opera web browser and is an industry leader in the field of web browser development for desktop and device markets.

The Opera browser, known as the 'third choice' after IE and Firefox, has received international acclaim from end-users and the industry due to its advantages of being faster, smaller, and more compatible with standards than other browsers.

Opera is not only free but also compliant with Web standards

The Opera browser is free! The early flag advertising and licensing fee system have been abolished!

If your website runs well in Opera, then you can be sure that it conforms to standards! Just write your pages with standard-compliant code, and you can ensure that your website runs well, whether in all mainstream browsers, or on all mainstream platforms and operating systems.

Opera supports all currently used Web standards, such as CSS, HTML, XHTML, HTTP, DOM, XML, XSL, ECMAScript (JavaScript), PNG, WML, SVG, Unicode, the Unicode Bidirectional Algorithm, and so on.

Appearance

New Visual Tabs and Fresh Design

Opera has always been a pioneer in browser tab innovation. Now, Opera has introduced a resizable tab bar. Drag the tab handle to see the thumbnail of the opened web page. In addition, powerful features also need perfect packaging, and designer Jon Hicks has created a new look for Opera.

Customize Quick Dial to Your Liking

Use Quick Dial to Access Your Favorite Websites Faster. Entering website URLs frequently is inefficient, clicking directly is the way to go. Quick Dial is a set of visual bookmarks that appear when you open a new tab, and it is the control panel of your online life.

To add a new page, just click the blank quick dial item, Opera will suggest based on your browsing history and bookmarks. You can customize quick dial as needed. Click the quick dial configuration button, and you can choose from 4 to 25 dial items. You can also add custom backgrounds to personalize your browser.

Built-in Web Search

The resizable search bar can take you directly to your favorite search engines, and you can also search in the address bar and pop-up menus. You can add any search engine, just right-click on the search box on the search page and select 'Create Search'.

Customize Your Browser

Opera is highly customizable. Choose from hundreds of skins and configurations, add/remove buttons, toolbars, or change the browser layout. Changing and undoing are very simple.

Zoom

Read small font websites easily, or shrink to get an overview of the entire web page. Opera has a fast and real page zoom function that zooms in on all web elements, not just text.

Tools

Quick and Customizable Web Search

Quick access to Google, Baidu, and other search engines, directly integrated into the search bar on the upper right corner. Or use the address bar shortcut keys to search for keywords directly. For example, entering 'g Opera' in the address bar will directly call Google search for the 'Opera' keyword. You can also create your own search and add it to the search bar by right-clicking on the page search box and selecting 'Create Search'.

Built-in Web Search

The resizable search bar can take you directly to your favorite search engines, and you can also search in the address bar and pop-up menus. You can add any search engine, just right-click on the search box on the search page and select 'Create Search'.

Fast Search

Do you want to find an article you saw not long ago? Opera can remember the real content of the sites you visit, and you can find the pages you have visited by entering keywords in the address bar.

Content Blocker

Block images, pop-ups, and plugins you don't want to see. Right-click on the page and select 'Content Blocker' to organize content. To speed up page loading or block unwanted content, you can temporarily disable image loading by clicking the image button in Opera. Opera has smart pop-up blocking enabled by default.

Download manager supporting BT downloads

Download faster with Opera. Opera automatically starts downloading when you save files, never wasting time. Click the button to pause/resume downloads, or choose to download multiple files at once. Opera also has built-in social file transfer protocols, BitTorrent, so you don't need to open other programs to download BT.

Add Widgets to Your Life

Widgets are small online applications (multimedia, news aggregators, games, or more) that make your desktop experience more interesting. Use the widget menu to access your favorites. Visit widgets.opera.com for more information.

Security

Encryption

Opera supports Secure Socket Layer (SSL) version 3 and TLS. Opera provides automatic 256-bit encryption, the highest level of security available for web browsers.

Automatic updates

Opera makes it easier to keep using the latest version. With automatic updates, you can choose to be notified of updates or to download them automatically. With Opera, you have complete control.

Delete private data

Opera can be configured to clear history and cache when exiting, protecting your privacy. Any private data can be quickly cleared.

Security bar

Opera displays encrypted information in the address bar. Click the yellow security bar for more information on the current certificate validity.

Fraud protection and extended validation ensure security

Not all web pages are what they claim to be. Opera has fraud protection enabled by default, automatically detecting and warning of online fraud. Fraud protection is supported by anti-phishing information from Netcraft and PhishTank. To protect against malware, Opera supports extended validation technology (EV). This adds more security to secure websites.

Cookie control

Opera provides detailed control over accepting and rejecting cookies, such as allowing separate cookie policies to be set for different servers.
