Windows-1252
Windows-1252 adalah set karakter default pertama di Microsoft Windows.
Dari 1985 hingga 1990, ini adalah set karakter yang paling populer di Windows.
ANSI
Sejarahnya, Windows menggunakan istilah "ANSI Code Pages" untuk mengacu kepada set karakter non-DOS.
Tujuannya adalah untuk menjadikan set karakter ini menjadi standar ANSI, seperti ISO-8859-1.
Walaupun Windows-1252 hampir sama dengan ISO-8859-1, ia tidak pernah menjadi standar ANSI atau ISO.
Windows-1252 dan ASCII
Bagian pertama Windows-1252 (nomor entitas dari 0-127) adalah set karakter ASCII asli. Ini termasuk angka, huruf besar dan kecil, serta beberapa karakter khusus.
