Website Design

Less is more

Make all sentences as short as possible. Make all paragraphs as short as possible. Make all chapters as short as possible. Make your pages as short as possible.

Please use a lot of whitespace between paragraphs and chapters. Pages filled with long text will drive away your users.

Also, do not place too much content on a single page. If it is necessary to convey a large amount of information, try to divide the content into small blocks and place them on different pages. Do not expect every visitor to scroll through a page of thousands of words.

Navigation

Try to create a navigation structure that is universally applicable to all pages of the website.

Keep the use of hyperlinks in text paragraphs to a minimum. Do not use hyperlinks randomly within text paragraphs to take visitors to other pages. This will disrupt the consistency of the navigation structure.

If you must use hyperlinks, please add them to the bottom of the paragraph or the site's navigation menu.

Download Speed

The most common errors are caused by the development environment for website developers, such as developing a site on a local machine or using a high-speed internet connection. Developers sometimes are not aware that downloading their pages takes a long time.

Research on internet accessibility tells us that if the download time of a web page exceeds 7 seconds, most visitors will choose to leave.

Before you publish a large amount of content, make sure these pages have been tested on slow dial-up connections. If your pages require a lot of time to download, you may consider removing some images or multimedia content.

Allow your users to speak out!

Receiving feedback from users is a good thing. Your visitors are your 'customers'. They often give you some valuable ideas or provide free advice for improvement.

If you provide some convenient contact methods, you will receive a lot of beneficial feedback from people with different skills and knowledge.
