W3C, an organization established in 1994, aims to unleash the full potential of the web world by promoting the development of universal protocols and ensuring their universality.
What is W3C?

- W3C was established inOctober 1994
- W3C is operated by Tim Berners-Lee create
- W3C is aMember organizations

- W3C creates and maintains WWW standards
- W3C standards are known as W3C Recommendations
How was W3C created?
The World Wide Web (WWW) was developed as a project of the European Organization for Nuclear Research, where Tim Berners-Lee developed the prototype of the World Wide Web.
Tim Berners-Lee - the inventor of the World Wide Web - is currently the director of the World Wide Web Foundation.
W3C was created in 1994 with the purpose of completing collaborative work between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), with support from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) of the United States and the European Commission.
Standardization of the web
W3C is committed to enabling all users to utilize the web (regardless of their cultural, educational background, ability, financial status, and physical disabilities).
W3C also collaborates with other standardization organizations, such as the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), and Unicode Consortium.
W3C drives operation by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (MIT CSAIL) in the United States, the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM) based in France, and Keio University in Japan, and has branch offices worldwide.
W3C 会员
W3C medlemmer
På grund af, at Web er så vigtig (uanset om det er i forhold til dens indflydelsesområde eller investeringer), bør dens fremtid ikke kontrolleres af en enkelt organisation, derfor spiller W3C rollen som en medlemsorganisation:
- Nogle kendte medlemmer inkluderer:
- IBM
- Microsoft
- America Online
- Apple
- Adobe
- Macromedia
Sun MicrosystemsW3C's medlemmer
Inkluderer: softwareudviklere, indholdstilbydere, virksomhedsbrugere, kommunikationsvirksomheder, forskningsinstitutioner, forskningslaboratorier, standardiseringsgrupper samt regeringer.
W3C anbefalinger
