XML DOM getElementsByTagName() Method

Definition and Usage

getElementsByTagName() The method returns a NodeList of all elements with the specified name.

Syntax

getElementsByTagName(name)
parameter description
name A string that specifies the tag name to be searched. The value "*" matches all tags.

Example

The following code loads "books.xml" into xmlDoc and displays the value of the first <title> element:

var xhttp = new XMLHttpRequest();
xhttp.onreadystatechange = function() {
   if (this.readyState == 4 && this.status == 200) {
       myFunction(this);
   }
};
xhttp.open("GET", "books.xml", true);
xhttp.send();
function myFunction(xml) {
